Porchfest began in Ithaca, NY, in 2007 as an event to showcase local musical talent for the community. Currently more than 100 annual Porchfests are held throughout the US. Neighbors volunteer the use of their porch, garage, or front yard for musicians/groups to play for one-hour intervals. All that is necessary from you is an outlet or extension cord for the band. You will not need to let anyone in your house for any reason.
When is Porchfest?
We have selected Saturday June 13, 2020, for this event, with a rain date of June 27th. Hours will be from 12:00 to 5:00 PM.
Where is Porchfest Trenton?
Porchfest Trenton 2020 is presented by the Hiltonia Association, with cooperation from the City of Trenton and will be located on Cadwalader Drive, Buckingham Avenue, Cornwall Avenue, Glenwood Avenue, Kensington Avenue, Renfrew Avenue, Stanley Avenue and Hilvista Blvd. within the Hiltonia neighborhood.
Food trucks and the check-in table will be located on Hilvista Boulevard near the back entrance to Cadwalader Park. Porchfest will run from 12 noon to 5:00 PM.
Does it cost money?
No, this is strictly a community-building event and all musicians perform free of charge. We will be selling t-shirts to help cover the cost of promoting the event. We are also looking for corporate sponsors and grant money to help cover those costs.
Can I volunteer to work this event?
Yes, we will need volunteers to help prior to and during the event. We will need help with traffic management, setting up street barriers, assistance at the check-in table, helping to set-up the bands at individual porches, helping at the t-shirt fundraising table, and lots more that we haven’t yet thought of. Even a little bit of your time will help us make our first Porchfest Trenton a fabulous and fun event. We greatly appreciate and encourage all participation.
I can’t host a band but I want to do something.
This is a family-friendly event, so you may want to set up kids’ games or face painting in your yard, have a yard sale, or even host an Alex’s lemonade stand. There will be lots of visitors in the neighborhood, so be creative and make the most of the foot traffic. Please make sure you fill out the form (COMING SOON) so we know what kind of activity you will be sponsoring at your house so we can put you on our map.
I have more questions. Who do I contact?
You can contact Jeannie Weakliem at email@example.com or call her at (609) 577-7148 with any questions or concerns.
How do I volunteer my porch, driveway, or garage for this event?
You can officially sign up your porch for this event through this website (COMING SOON).
IMMEDIATELY, we are trying to gauge the interest from the community.
WE ASK THAT YOU EMAIL JEANNIE AT THE ABOVE ADDRESS AND SIMPLY STATE THAT YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING YOUR PORCH (include your address). AT THIS POINT WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR A FIRM COMMITMENT.
These events have been great successes all over the country, and WE NEED your porch to make this happen.
Can you keep me updated about Porchfest Trenton?
Please join our mailing list (COMING SOON) to stay up to date. Keep informed about new performers, schedule updates, and other announcements. We will try not to email you too often and will not sell or provide our email list to anyone else.
